The Somali Mental Health Network (SMHN) is a UK-wide, Somali-led professional network bringing together mental health professionals, students and researchers, lived-experience leaders, creatives, educators, and advocates.
With over 190+ registered members across the UK and the diaspora, we work to bridge community realities with systems of care, translating mental health through culture, language, faith, and lived experience. Our focus is not only responding to crisis, but preventing it before it begins.

Our vision is a community where Somali families access mental health support early and without stigma, professionals feel supported and represented, and community knowledge shapes responsive services. Trauma is addressed preventatively, so our children grow up emotionally safe and empowered to thrive.

We actively involve local communities to promote understanding and support around mental health issues. We organise workshops and seminars to support our professional community in their development to stay sustaibale.
